From the moment you touch Bhutanese soil, you will be greeted by the unique cultural wealth of Bhutan. Overlooking the only airport in Bhutan is the impressive Paro Rinpung Fortress. Built using indigenous technology, the medieval fortress is today the seat of the government of Paro district.

From the intricately designed and hand woven textiles worn by Bhutanese men and women to the richly decorated traditional Bhutanese homes, culture in Bhutan is indeed a live and a vibrant force in Bhutan.
The people of Bhutan have vehemently held on to their unique culture and traditions. While Bhutanese embrace modernity and absorb the offerings of a twenty first century globalized world, the truth and bare fact is not lost on the people and the government of Bhutan.
As a small country with no military and economic might, Bhutan and her citizens realize that it is our unique culture, which gives us our identity, that will be the anchor of our survival as a nation.
Once in Bhutan, the visitor will have to strain his or her eyes to see things in black and white. The country has a booming cultural industry. Homes become industries as mothers weave textiles of various styles and design. The men of the houses are artisans and craftsmen, painting elaborate scrolls and carving intricate designs on pinewood that will form a part of your house decor or an important piece in the architecture of a temple.
Each town and village in Bhutan celebrates its annual festival turning the already radiant places into a riot of color. With festivities including dances and songs, theater and other performances, the celebrations continue for days.
The vibrant and rich culture of Bhutan cannot be described in words. The cultural extravaganza that Bhutan offers can only be experienced.
